The world of cartoons and animations are brought to the screens of Rio (and also to some in Sao Paulo) for this popular event which attracts close to 100,000 movie fans. The films and videos are selected from around the world to appeal to a wide range of adults and children. Included in the programming are long and short movies, serials and advertising videos performed in various visual styles, languages and animation techniques. In addition, Anima Mundi offers courses through the year, and free animation workshops, talks, special exhibitions and an internet-based competition during the festival period.
THE FESTIVAL IN OTHER BRAZILIAN CITIES
Anima Mundi Special is a compact version of the Festival ANIMA MUNDI that will be presented in other Brazilian cities after Rio and São Paulo.
Anima Mundi Special will be held right after ANIMA MUNDI Festival in São Paulo.
PROGRAM
1. Film & Video Programs
A special selection of films and videos from Anima Mundi 2007.
2. Presentations
An animation director presents a program and discusses with the audience the secrets of his/her art.
3. Workshops
Basic notions on various techniques of animation.
4. Open Studios
Free workshops for the general public who will be able to experiment with:
Zoetrope, Pixilation and Clay Animation.
CATEGORIES IN COMPETITION
Short-Film - shorts intended for the general public
Feature-Film - films with lenght over 60 minutes
Short for Children - shorts intended for children
Brazilian Animation - shorts by Brazilian authors. Screened in the Short for Children screenings
Student Film - shorts produced in animation courses or workshops - screened in the Short Film and Short for Children screenings
Commissioned Film - commissioned works for advertising, institucional campaigns, music videos or special effects sequences for live-action feature films. Screened in the Portfolio screenings
